Basic Literacy
The Racine Literacy Council's Basic Literacy program addresses the needs of persons with low literacy skills in reading, writing, and math.
A lack of literacy skills directly correlates to lower paying jobs, crime, lack of civic and community involvement, and low self-esteem.
The curriculum is designed for adults and includes a variety of books and levels from beginning reading and writing through GED preparation. It is student centered and incorporates the student's self- identified educational, personal, and job related goals.
Driver's Education is also available for adults that are in need of driver's education instruction as ordered by the Department of Motor Vehicles or are preparing to take the written test for the first time. Instruction is free for adults in need.
