Health Literacy at the Racine Literacy Council

When an adult is first matched with his/her volunteer tutor, he/she establishes specific life skill goals. Often these goals include ones related to health care and communications with medical personnel. Being able to read a prescription, phone a doctor’s office, or explain an aliment are literacy issues. In addition to addressing health related literacy in the one-to-one tutoring program the Racine Literacy Council has additional information on the subject to share with the community. Call RLC at (262) 632-9495 if you would like to become involved.

Note: Persons who would like to become a volunteer tutor in Western Racine County may contact the Racine Literacy Council or plan to attend a tutor informational meeting held in Burlington and Waterford throughout the year. While most tutor trainings are held in Racine, the option of providing a tutor training west of I-94 is under consideration.
